A Place for Support

No one should feel alone when they are going through a difficult time. Our Animal Welfare programs aim to help horse and other large-animal owners in need when they are going through a difficult time.

Harmony Acres Animal Welfare Fund

Harmony Acres believes that the best place for animals is typically in their own home. The purpose of this fund is to keep livestock-type animals (goats, sheep, horses, alpacas, etc), who are primarily companion animals, out of the slaughter pipeline and in committed homes. Funds will go directly to pay for needed costs for a short-term period, including minor vet care, farrier care, or feed. Priority in this program will be given to:

  • Individuals who have a proven history (verified through professional references) of commitment to and responsible care of their animals.
  • Individuals who are striving to access other available resources but are at eminent risk of running out of resources to care for the animals in the short-term.
  • Large livestock-type animals (horses, goats, sheep, pigs, llamas, etc) who are primarily kept as companion animals (ideally not for husbandry, meat, or profit) and that are on the Western Slope, within reasonable driving distance of Grand Junction, CO.

We will consider all situations in need. Even if you are not sure if you fit the priorities, you may apply. Please use the form below

Please note that the purpose of this program is to keep animals in their home. We apologize but we are typically unable to take owner relinquishments. If you are needing to relinquish your animal, let us know and we will do our best to connect you to other reputable rescues or sanctuaries. (Most are on the Front Range).

Name

Western Slope Hay Bank

The past few years have been very difficult for horse owners due to the drought conditions and drastically increasing hay prices. Every year Harmony Acres offers a "Hay Bank" to assist animal owners who are struggling to feed their animals for a short term period. Please fill out the form above to let us know more about your situation. We can typically offer hay to get you through approximately one month of care.
